An upstate New York jury says a former high school teacher is guilty of federal child pornography charges.

John Puglisi

A federal jury found 30-year-old John Puglisi guilty Friday of producing child pornography, possessing child pornography and persuading, inducing and enticing a minor to engage in sexual conduct.

He faces at least 15 years in prison when he’s sentenced on Nov. 23.

Puglisi, a father of two, is a former social studies teacher in Newark Valley, 60 miles south of Syracuse. He was accused of sending sexually explicit text messages to a 16-year-old girl.

The girl testified that she didn’t consider herself a victim and viewed the relationship as consensual.

Puglisi also faces a rape charge in state court.
